These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the Institute for the Study of Spirit website and services. By using our website or services, you accept these terms in full.
2. Intellectual Property
All content on this website, including text, images, logos, and material related to our Indigenous wisdom programs, is the property of the Institute for the Study of Spirit or our partners and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
3. Program Participation
Safety and Responsibility
Participants must provide accurate information regarding their health and ability to participate in programs
We reserve the right to refuse participation if we believe it poses a risk to the participant or others
Participants must follow all safety guidelines and instructions from program facilitators
Cultural Respect
Participants must demonstrate respect for Indigenous cultures, traditions, and sacred sites
Photography and recording policies must be strictly followed as specified for each program
Cultural protocols and guidelines must be observed during all activities
Institute for the Study of Spirit (ISS) will not include any legal right or title of Indigenous peoples otherwise protected through those intellectual and legal traditions described in Article 31.1 of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP):
Article 31.1. Indigenous peoples have the right to maintain, control, protect and develop their cultural heritage, traditional knowledge and traditional cultural expressions, as well as the manifestations of their sciences, technologies and cultures, including human and genetic resources, seeds, medicines, knowledge of the properties of fauna and flora, oral traditions, literatures, designs, sports and traditional games and visual and performing arts. They also have the right to maintain, control, protect and develop their intellectual property over such cultural heritage, traditional knowledge, and traditional cultural expressions.
ISS retains ownership of all materials, assets, intellectual property newly created through the course of this project, except those created solely with Intellectual Property owned or retained by any other party. ISS and its personnel, which may include third parties (eg. those supporting design, filming), retain full editorial discretion and license to use and reproduce in any format any images, quotations, testimonial, works submitted, audio or video recordings, in whole or part, for use in furtherance of ISS’s work as described above, as amended from time to time. If required, a waiver and/or media release will be provided to all individuals participating in the project. ISS affirms its intention to use materials, including those that describe individuals’ stories and journeys, in ways that uphold respect, learning, consent and the shared values expressed herein.
For greater clarity, neither ISS nor contractor may claim ownership, rights, or title over Indigenous Knowledge that may be shared or arise through the course of this project. Incorporation or use of Indigenous Knowledge shall be done only with the consent and affirmation of the knowledge holder and requesting party, sought and agreed upon through a relational process in accordance with any relevant protocols. Both ISS and Contractor adhere to UNDRIP, in particular Article 31.1, as stated above.
4. Cancellation and Refunds

Refund eligibility varies based on timing and nature of cancellation
Force majeure events may affect program delivery and refund policies

Our services are provided "as is." While we strive to offer transformative experiences, we make no guarantees regarding specific outcomes from participation in our programs.
6. Limitation of Liability
The Institute for the Study of Spirit shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of our services or participation in our programs.
7. Privacy Policy
Your use of our website and services is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference into these Terms and Conditions.
8. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of our services following any changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.
9. Governing Law
These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable federal laws and the laws of the jurisdiction where the Institute for the Study of Spirit operates.
